CV Whitney Cup: Valiente with GOAT Cambiaso gets the cup

Legendary 10-goaler Adolfo Cambiaso showed off his willpower and his horsepower to lead Valiente to a 12-10 victory over La Dolfina in the C.V. Whitney Cup final Sunday in front of a sold-out crowd at National Polo Center in Wellington.

Cambiaso scored 2 goals in a 2-minute span to help Valiente rally to win the first Gauntlet of Polo final. It was Cambiaso’s 9th and Valiente’s 6th C.V. Whitney Cup title.

Cambiaso tied the game at 10-10 with 2:35 remaining in the game and on the ensuing possession Pacquito de Narvaez converted a penalty shot to give Valiente the lead. Cambiaso’s goal with 55 seconds remaining clinched the triumph.

De Narvaez led Valiente with 6 goals and Cambiaso finished with 4. Tomas Panelo led La Dolfina with 5 goals and Poroto Cambiaso, Adolfo’s son and the youngest 10-goaler in the history of the sport, finished with 4.
