From ponies to horses. Olbia’s team of polo grows

Great training experience for the young polo team of Olbia that for the first time goes from ponies to horses and faces a challenging clinic at the Roma Polo Club, among the most prestigious centers of the specialty in our country. The young people, Marco Pala, Cristian Ledda, Anita Putzu, Anna Deiana and Giorgia Lai, after an active path full of satisfaction with the instructor Piera Monti of the Palahorse of Olbia, have tried their hand at the traditional pole on the beautiful grass fields of the oldest club in Italy.

Franco Piazza, coach of the Italian men’s and women’s national teams, 3rd level FISE polo instructor, did not spare praise for the young Sardinians: “I started training them three years ago and I am very happy to see them here today engaged in this two-day intensive course in which everything has changed for them. In addition to riding the horses, they also tried the experience of playing with the much smaller ball and on a green field.”

The scenario, the renowned Roma Polo Club, which has 190 members, is available to the federation for this fundamental step: to grow young people with the aim of cultivating the athletes of the future, also for the national team. “We had the pleasure of hosting the internship of the boys from Sardinia together with the federation represented by Maria Grazia Cecchini who is doing an incredible job for the development and growth of the polo – stressed Stefano Giansanti, president of the club and captain of the Italian national polo team -. The athletes have proven to be very good and are working to become future champions.”
