Guards Polo Club and Jaipur Polo renew their reciprocity

Between Singarta’s Jaipur Club and Guards Club there is a reciprocity where Jaipur Club players can go to play Guards and Guards players in Jaipur are very welcome.

Yesterday there was a match between these two teams and after that a tea party at the Jaipur Club house and from there all the guests and players went to a dinner at Colonel Singarta’s house.

The Jaipur Polo Club, originally formed in 1918, primarily consisted of players from Jodhpur and Jaipur Riyasat. During that time, it was located adjacent to the Jaipur Club and near the present-day Ganapati Nagar, close to Jaipur Railway Station. This esteemed institution has been known throughout the world as a center of excellence in polo. The late H.H. Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur was a passionate patron of polo, and he laid the foundation of his love for the sport on these grounds, which were famed for being as smooth as a billiards table. His tales of prowess as a rider and polo player continue to resonate in polo circles. Brig. Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh Bahadur MVC, who visited the polo grounds with his father as a child, further contributed to the legacy of polo in India. He organized renowned polo events and tournaments across the country. Jacqueline Kennedy, the President and Prime Ministers of India and the U.S.S.R., and HRH Princess Diana witnessed matches in Jaipur. Even HRH The Prince of Wales played polo here. The Jaipur Polo Club remains a testament to the artistry and passion of this exhilarating sport.
