7th Edition of the International Berta Polo Open

The 7th edition of the International Berta Polo Open took place in the vibrant setting of Río Cuarto, Córdoba. This year’s event brought together a record-breaking 33 teams and over 130 players across three prominent venues: Berta Polo, Río Cuarto Polo Club, and El Descanso. Known for celebrating polo from across the nation, this gathering showcased players of all levels and categories, fostering camaraderie and unforgettable experiences.

To accommodate such a large number of participants, six trophies were contested across various categories. From young talents to experienced professionals, women’s teams, and mixed squads, the event featured: the Young Riders Cup, the Les Plus Grandes Cup, the Women’s Open, the Juvenile Open, the Cador Cup (0–4 goals), and the main event, the Berta Open (6–10 goals).

This tournament has steadily earned its place as a key fixture in the polo calendar. Its consistent growth and ability to draw players from different regions and countries underscore its importance in promoting the sport. This year’s record attendance solidified its reputation as one of the most impactful events in Argentinian polo.

In the flagship Berta Open category, the title was claimed by the Ivi Marai team, who achieved a memorable victory in overtime. Their triumph over Los Sauces, a dominant team with multiple past victories, was nothing short of extraordinary. The winning lineup included Lucas Boccolini, his son Luquitas, Manuel Serra, and Gustavo Elowson.

In the Cador Cup (0–4 goals), Club Hípico La Puntilla emerged victorious. Hailing from Tunuyán, Mendoza, the team—comprising Guillermo Cucurella Jr., Julián Guevara, Emiliano Guevara, and Juan Martín Guevara—secured a 5–3½ win against the local team, La Macarena.

In the women’s competition, rain and penalties added drama to the final match, with team La Guitarra ultimately triumphing. The lineup featured Sofia Dal Molin, Catalina Ureta, and Jazmin Cristofolini.

The Juvenile category saw La Esperanza outplaying La Carlota with a 4–1 victory in a display of youthful talent. The winning team included Felipe Rodriguez, Nicolas Amiri, Simon Juncos, and Lara Gonzalez.

The event also celebrated the joy of polo with younger participants through Les Plus Grandes and Potrillitos categories, ensuring a memorable experience for the up-and-coming generation.

With its growing prestige and commitment to fostering polo at all levels, the International Berta Polo Open continues to leave an indelible mark on the sport. This year’s achievements set the stage for further milestones in future editions.
