Another fantastic day for the practice of Polo, in Rabat, with mild temperatures sunny and a light breeze.
The event started with an exhibition of the cavalry band and the presence of members of the Royal family. With good affluence of public and in a privileged location, only a few minutes drive from downtown Rabat suddenly everything was ready for the final.
The local Morocco was facing the other undefeated team in the tournament USA, the beginning of the match had two interruptions due to players falling from their horses ,the first one without repercussions and in the second Diego Braun harmed his ribs, we wish him a speedy recovery and had to be replaced.
From the beginning the local managed to control the game and take the lead in the score. Same as in the previous matches on every chukka the umpires stopped the actions for the players to swap horses.
Near the end of the second chukka one of the most interesting goals happened when Moroccan number four pretending to leave the ball for his team mate behind him, but instead he passed through the defenders and scored with authority.
In the third chukka and after a few minutes when the US had the control a fantastic run of Moroccan number one from the midfield on the side of the Royal stands and scored the best goal of the match.
On the fourth chukka and with the score on their side the locals maintained the advantage until the end, but in the meantime Juan Sanchez Elia scored beautifully with a neck shot from a complicated angle. The final’s result was 9 to 4 in Rabat in favour of the local team.
Otro día fantástico para la práctica del polo en Rabat, con temperaturas suaves, sol y una ligera brisa. El evento comenzó con una exhibición de la banda de caballería y la presencia de miembros de la familia real. Con gran concurrencia de público y en un lugar privilegiado, a pocos minutos del centro de Rabat, todo estaba listo para la final.
El equipo local de Marruecos enfrentaba a Estados Unidos, el otro invicto del torneo. El inicio tuvo dos interrupciones por caídas de jugadores: la primera sin consecuencias y la segunda con Diego Braun lesionado en las costillas, a quien le deseamos pronta recuperación y debió ser reemplazado.
Desde el comienzo, Marruecos logró controlar el juego y tomar ventaja en el marcador. Como en los partidos anteriores, en cada chukker los árbitros detuvieron la acción para el recambio de caballos.
Cerca del final del segundo chukker se produjo uno de los goles más interesantes, cuando el número cuatro marroquí fingió dejar la bocha a un compañero y terminó pasando entre los defensores para anotar con autoridad.
En el tercer chukker, tras unos minutos de dominio estadounidense, el número uno de Marruecos realizó una corrida fantástica desde el mediocampo, junto a la tribuna real, y marcó el mejor gol del partido. En el cuarto chukker, con el resultado a favor, los locales mantuvieron la ventaja hasta el final, aunque Juan Sánchez Elía anotó un gran gol de neck shot desde un ángulo complicado. El resultado final fue 9 a 4 en Rabat, con triunfo para el equipo local.
