Interview with Ali King, Polo Manager at Roseland Club, Host of the 2025 Arena Polo FIP World Cup

The Roseland Club is gearing up to host the prestigious FIP Arena Polo World Cup in October 2025. In an exclusive interview, Ali King, Polo Manager at Roseland Club, shared insights on the preparations and expectations for the event.

1. Preparing for the FIP Arena World Cup

“We plan to focus on perfecting our footing and negating any human error in our treatment of the footing with regards to irrigation and dragging. This arena is relatively new here, and we are still making regular modifications in our management and treatment of the footing. Additionally, we have our work cut out for us in getting pasture and stabling organized enough to house over 100 horses leading up to and during the event. We are very well versed in hosting large crowds for polo here at Roseland and feel well equipped to take on this exciting event.”

2. Excitement and Honor of Hosting

“We are thrilled to have been selected to host. Roseland Polo grows a bit every year in size as well as the quantity and quality of the polo we play here. It’s such an honor for a young club like ours to have been selected, and we are very much looking forward to taking it on.”

3. Impact on Polo in Virginia

“I hope and believe both polo in the state of Virginia and arena polo in our area will see a boost in participation and spectatorship as a result of bringing the World Cup to Charlottesville/Crozet. In joining forces with our friends at Virginia Polo, we will be able to showcase world-class polo at two very different yet equally spectacular facilities in our area. By hosting arena polo of this caliber, we are hopeful to not only see members of our immediate club become more enthusiastic about playing in the arena but also increase spectator engagement and excitement for the arena events we already host here.”
