How important is for El Dorado to receive the US Women’s PCO?
The Women’s PCO is the West Coast’s most competitive and prestigious women’s tournament. There are so many female players in the West with a desire to play competitive women’s polo. When we heard it might not be played in 2021 and that the tournament needed a home club, we knew we had to save it. It’s been such a fun tournament. We refer to it as “Women’s Week” and concurrently host two other levels of tournaments – the USPA Susan Stovall Memorial and the Debii Dollar Memorial. Additionally, the famous women’s tournament party, which coincided with New Year’s Eve this year, is always a highlight. Our goal is to enhance the fun and encourage the growth of women’s polo. We are thrilled to have all the ladies here, and we hope they will continue to come and participate to keep the West Coast women’s polo scene thriving. Eldorado is dedicated to promoting women’s polo in the Western region. For the past few years, we have been organizing a weekly women’s chukker league, which has now expanded into a more competitive month-long tournament.
How is the season of the club during the year?
In addition to all the women’s polo, we have seven other levels of tournament play and the largest junior polo program in the country. So, there’s something for everyone. Throughout the season we host a variety of leagues and USPA circuit and national tournamnets: 2 Goal, 4 Goal, 6 Goal, 8 Goal, 12 Goal, Pro Am and Women’s. We have 26 teams entered in our current leagues.
Luckily, we have a dedicated team that keeps it all flowing. We’re pleased to have such a demand for polo on the West Coast. There’s a large community of polo players in the desert. It’s incredible to see everyone come together year after year.
How many people play in El Dorado?
We have around 120 active playing members, stabling at the club for over 850 horses and 14 onsite polo fields. It’s a wonderful community of professionals, sponsors, grooms, and staff that can stable, practice, play, and all get together at the onsite bar and restaurant at the end of the day.
What’s the future plans for the club?
MORE POLO! We are eager to continue hosting as much polo as we can sustain. Running a club of this size with this amount of polo requires a great deal of effort. We have been working to enhance and expand the spectator experience. We welcome about 3,000 guests every week for Sunday polo and over 25,000 for the season. There is nothing like playing in front of an enthusiastic, sold-out crowd who are passionate about the game, just like we are. This helps promote the sport locally, nationally, and globally, as the desert is a popular tourist destination during the winter months. The revenues generated from Sunday Polo help cover the club’s operational costs throughout the year. We hope that the support of the sport will continue to grow, enabling us to improve the overall experience for our members and fans.

¿Qué tan importante es que El Dorado reciba el PCO femenino de EE. UU.?
El PCO femenino es el torneo femenino más competitivo y prestigioso de la costa oeste. Hay tantas jugadoras en Occidente con el deseo de jugar al polo femenino competitivo. Cuando escuchamos que podría no jugarse en 2021 y que el torneo necesitaba un club de casa, supimos que teníamos que guardarlo. Ha sido un torneo muy divertido. Nos referimos a ella como “Semana de la Mujer” y al mismo tiempo organizamos otros dos niveles de torneos: el USPA Susan Stovall Memorial y el Debii Dollar Memorial. Además, la famosa fiesta del torneo femenino, que coincidió con la víspera de Año Nuevo de este año, siempre es un punto culminante.
