Giordano Magini: “Italy is confident enough for this challenge”

Giordano Magrini is already in the United States, ready to play the II FIP Arena Polo World Championship, with Italy, alongside with Stefano Fiansanti and Mariano Raigal. Although it’s his very first time on a World Championship, Giordano, a well seasoned arena polo player, rated at 4 goals, is enthusiastic about the competition and ready to do his best for Italy.

Cómo se está preparando Italia para el Mundial de Arena Polo de la FIP? How is Italy getting ready for the FIP Arena Polo World Championship?

We are doing very well, the three of us. Stefano (Giansanti) and I have been playing together for a long time, and Mariano (Raigal) and Stefano played the European championship together. I can say we are confident enough for this challenge.

What does it mean for you to play the Arena Polo World Championship for the first time?

I think it is the best honour for every sportsman to represent their country.

What is your experience in arena polo?

Well, I played a lot of arena polo in Italy and Germany. In addition, I played the European Championship in Baku, in 2017.

What can you tell us about the development of polo in Italy, both arena and grass, in terms of players, horses, fields?

Currently, we are having a lot of projects and working a lot on the improvement and growth of the sport and the organisations.

Beyond any results, what is Italy’s goal with regards to the World Championship?

Basically, we aim to play well, enjoy… and of course, win!

On a personal side, what are your expectations?

My goal is to try to do my best with my teammates and, if possible, lift the trophy. I think like all the players want!
