La Asociación de Polo ha dado un paso significativo al crear la Subcomisión de Historia y Estadísticas, integrada por Tucán Pereyra Iraola, Javier Figoli, Pepe Santamarina y Maxi Funes.
Esta subcomisión, formada hace pocos días, tiene como objetivo revisar el pasado, contar la historia del polo y utilizar las estadísticas como herramienta de marketing.
La Necesidad de la Subcomisión
En una conversación con Tucán Pereyra Iraola, nos explicó que la idea surgió de las constantes consultas con Javier, Maxi, Pepe, Gustavo Sgalla, Nito y otros miembros de la Asociación. “Siempre se nos presentan dudas sobre el pasado y ahí vimos la necesidad de crear esta comisión”, comentó Tucán. La subcomisión se encargará de revisar el pasado y corregir errores históricos, además de utilizar las estadísticas para promover el deporte.
El Uso de las Estadísticas en el Marketing
Un ejemplo claro de cómo se pueden utilizar las estadísticas en el marketing es el dato publicado en la última edición de Polo Today: 150 equipos han jugado el Abierto Argentino. “El próximo club será bienvenido como el 151 y desde la AAP se puede utilizar ese dato como marketing”, explicó Tucán. Además, están planeando un gran homenaje en alguna de las fechas por los 100 años de la medalla de oro, en colaboración con el Comité Olímpico Argentino y la AAP.
Corrección de Errores Históricos
Uno de los objetivos principales de la subcomisión es corregir errores históricos. Por ejemplo, siempre se ha publicado que el club más ganador de la historia es Coronel Suárez con 25 títulos, cuando en realidad son 26, ya que no se ha sumado el título de Coronel Suárez II de 1983. “Como esa, hay varias cosas que hay que subsanar”, afirmó Tucán.
La creación de esta subcomisión marca un hito importante para la Asociación de Polo, ya que permitirá preservar y promover la rica historia del deporte, utilizando las estadísticas de manera efectiva para su difusión y marketing.

A clear example of how statistics can be used in marketing is the data published in the latest edition of Polo Today: 150 teams have played in the Argentine Open. “The next club will be welcomed as the 151st, and the AAP can use that data for marketing,” Tucán explained. Additionally, they are planning a grand tribute on one of the dates for the 100th anniversary of the gold medal, in collaboration with the Argentine Olympic Committee and the AAP.
