Mohammed VI International Polo Trophy: Six Nations, One Stage

A global lineup gathers in Morocco for the 6th edition

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Mohammed VI International Polo Trophy returns with its sixth edition, bringing together six nations for a week of sport, culture and international camaraderie. From May 4 to 10, Morocco becomes the meeting point for a diverse field of teams, each arriving with its own identity, style and ambition.

Below, a team‑by‑team look at the nations competing in this year’s tournament.

Morocco

The host nation presents a balanced and competitive lineup. Sidi Mohamed El Mhamdi and Moulay Abdessalam El Hanafi lead a squad that blends local experience with international influence. Taissir Kadiri, Mario Gomez, Zouhir Lachgar and Aziz Outaleb complete a team that knows the field, understands the rhythm of the tournament and carries the pride of playing at home. Morocco enters with the clear goal of fighting for the title.

United States

The American team arrives with depth and versatility. Thomas North and Noureddine Anakar bring structure and pace, while Juan Sanches Elia and Diego Braun add strong offensive presence. Hannah Buchan and Ezequiel Barrenechea round out a roster capable of adapting to different styles of play. The United States is expected to be one of the most dynamic teams in the competition.

Hungary

Hungary stands out for its cohesion and disciplined approach. Daniel Radics and Gábor Szegedi provide leadership, supported by Levi Szegedi, Balázs Cseri and Tibor Turcsák. Their strength lies in teamwork, tactical order and a steady rhythm that often challenges more explosive opponents. Hungary arrives ready to make an impact and reinforce its growing presence in European polo.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia brings elegance, ambition and a strong equestrian tradition. Led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Mansour Bin Nasser, the team includes I. Saad Al‑Harbi, Pablo Roldan, M. Oscar Abel and A. Samir Yamani. Their participation reflects the rapid development of polo in the kingdom and the region’s increasing investment in international sport.

Portugal

Portugal presents a technically refined and tightly connected lineup. Guilherme Castro and Filipe Mendes de Almeida join forces with Diogo and Tiago Perestrello Gallego, along with Miguel Caetano de Freitas. The team combines precision, speed and a strong sense of identity. Portugal arrives with the ambition of consolidating its position on the global polo map.

France

France enters the tournament with a young, energetic and stylish team. Adrien Cegea, Thomas Morange, Diego Belaid and Julien Reynes represent the new wave of French polo, characterized by fluid movement, offensive creativity and a modern approach to the game. They are one of the teams to watch for their potential to surprise.

A tournament that unites nations

The Mohammed VI International Polo Trophy continues to grow as a symbol of Morocco’s commitment to international sport and cultural exchange. With six nations, diverse styles and a shared passion for polo, the 2026 edition promises a week of high‑level competition and global connection.
