The C.V. Whitney Cup® has been a prestigious fixture in U.S. polo since its inception in 1979. Initially known as the U.S. Handicap, the tournament was first competed for on handicap in conjunction with the U.S. Open Polo Championship. The debut of this esteemed cup took place at Retama Polo Center in San Antonio, Texas, where the Tulsa team triumphed in both the inaugural and subsequent years.
The C.V. Whitney Cup® marks the beginning of the Gauntlet of Polo, presented by TruBar. This year, 11 teams will compete for the historic trophy and a prize of $25,000. Hosted by the National Polo Center, the competition commences on Friday, February 7, and all matches will be livestreamed on the USPA Polo Network.
