A diferencia de años anteriores, cuando la falta de nieve obligó a realizar un simple duelo de penales, en 2025 todo volvió a la normalidad. El último fin de semana de enero se disputó la 40° edición del glamoroso certamen. No solo los partidos sobre nieve fueron entretenidos, sino que cada jornada estuvo acompañada por elegantes fiestas y reuniones sociales en los sofisticados hoteles del paraíso suizo. “Tradición, clase y lujo”, es el lema de los organizadores.
Historia y Ganadores
Desde su primera edición en 1985, varios argentinos han levantado el trofeo, entre ellos campeones de Palermo como Pablo Mac Donough (2009), Juan Martín Nero (2004) y Eduardo Novillo Astrada (2007). En la versión 2025 participaron seis equipos que animaron cuatro jornadas intensas, una de entrenamiento y tres de torneo, con algunos partidos que se jugaron bajo una tormenta blanca.
La Gran Final
La final se jugó el domingo 26 de enero y coronó a un cuarteto casi sudamericano, el de The Kusnacht Practice, con el patrón brasileño Eduardo Greghi junto a los argentinos Isidro Strada y Francisco Belaustegui, más Chris Mackenzie. En un partido áspero y muy disputado, el campeón superó a Azerbaijan Land of Fire por 5 a 4.5 ante una multitud. Asistieron 26,200 espectadores a la final, todo un récord en 40 años de competencia.
Otros compatriotas que participaron fueron Alfredo Bigatti, Facundo Sola y Alejandro Novillo Astrada, además de dos especialistas en la nieve como los primos Adrián y Raúl Laplacette. Strada fue el MVP de la final, ganando cinco noches en el One & Only Reethi Rah de Maldivas. Además, una yegua propiedad de Adolfo Cambiaso y montada por Mackenzie, Dolfina Aureliana, recibió la manta de Best Playing Pony.
Elegancia y Fiestas
No todo transcurrió sobre el lago congelado de St. Moritz, ya que las fiestas en los hoteles de lujo fueron “lo más”. Destacan la Snow Polo Gala Dinner, con black tie obligatoria en el Badrutt’s, la Farewell Party de cierre en el Crystal Hotel y la Fondue Night en el Hotel Steffani.

Unlike previous years, when the lack of snow forced a simple penalty shootout, 2025 saw everything return to normal. The last weekend of January witnessed the 40th edition of this glamorous event. Not only were the snow matches entertaining, but each day was accompanied by elegant parties and social gatherings in the sophisticated hotels of the Swiss paradise. “Tradition, class, and luxury” is the organizers’ slogan.
History and Winners
Since its first edition in 1985, several Argentinians have lifted the trophy, including Palermo champions like Pablo Mac Donough (2009), Juan Martín Nero (2004), and Eduardo Novillo Astrada (2007). The 2025 edition featured six teams that participated in four intense days, one for training and three for the tournament, with some matches played under a white storm.
The Grand Final
The final was played on Sunday, January 26, and crowned an almost South American quartet, The Kusnacht Practice, with Brazilian patron Eduardo Greghi alongside Argentinians Isidro Strada and Francisco Belaustegui, and Chris Mackenzie. In a tough and closely contested match, the champions defeated Azerbaijan Land of Fire by 5 to 4.5 before a huge crowd. A record 26,200 spectators attended the final in 40 years of competition.
